父の日 Special

It's Father's Day this Sunday. Get off you butt and go tell your dad you love him. While you are at it, why not also tell him how much you apprepriate him as a 'walking ATM'? Or better yet, why not tell him to get you a gift to show you his appreciation of you for appreciating him as a father who appreciates you? The most valuable appreciation I've shown my dad, to date, was my promise that I'll take care of him when he is older...

... on the conditions that he, now, does whatever I asked of him and he is to never ask me what I spent my money, I mean his money, on.

Daddy! Boodie! Okay! Hoooooo~!

Do you want some fun with that?

What a day I had yesterday~! It was a fun-filled day. I woke up at 6am to go into uni to do a test. The test was fun I had fun doing the fun test. And then, oh my god... guess what... I went to the gym! I mean the gym! The gym I go 5 times a week and I went again yesterday! Fun, fun, fun, fun, fun.

After gym, I came back home and did some uni work. If you don't think typing up lecture notes is fun, then I think you need to go get yourself a life!

Around 9pm a couple of us went to a friend's place to drink before heading off to the opening of The Beach club at Docklands. It was fun waiting in the queue for 1+ hour, and to top that off, after all the waiting, we didn't get into the The Beach club and went to another club instead! Why did God shower me with so much fun? I don't deserve it, I really don't. The only good thing I did so far this year was donating hundreds of dollars to the triple Cs (Crown Casino Charity). I heard they do fantastic work with providing recreational activities for aged Asians and overseas students.

How can you end a fun, fun and very fun night without some people vomiting blood, some people becoming very broke and, arguments between some people?

Loving you

Let me present you, the Asian-version of Mariah Carey. She comes in half the size but twice the power! What an amazing voice she's got!? Powerful, balanced and controlled voice. She was able to interpret and implement her own style into that music without compromising its originality. This song is one of my all time favourites. It's very calming, sensual and sexy. Personally, I prefer it being sung in a slower, rubato tempo, plus, I don't particular like her 'school girl' outfit.

Dinner
I made Japanese curry today. It was so much easier than those dishes I attempted to make before. Having said that, it took me a while to make the curry. There's a lot of preparation work involved. This is the end result:

Note to self:
  1. Start cooking before I'm hungry so I don't have to rush.
  2. Cut the vegie into smaller pieces.
  3. Add honey.
  4. Get mild hot instead of hot.

I give myself 3 out of 10. The good thing about Japanese curry is that you can't really go wrong. Anyway, I am progressing... very sloooooowwwllllllyyyyy.

Honey, I drowned the chicken

Today's recipe was Chicken Tofu Casserole. This is what it's supposed to look like:

Photo from Women's health & fitness vol. 12 no.6.

It involved a lot of ingredients. One of which was chicken stock. What's the fucking difference between a chicken stock and chicken broth anyway!? I couldn't find chicken stock, so I just got the other one. Another ingredient was a bulb of garlic which I was supposed to chop them up into tiny pieces.

What would a guy do if he's too lazy to chop garlic?

Yep, you got that right. He'd go back out and get a bottle of Lee Kum Kee freshly minced garlic. Here's the masterpiece:

It was a bit watery. The recipe said to add cornflour, I poured some cornflour into a cup with half a cup of hot water. I then poured god knows how much chicken broth into the pan together with the cornflour-mixed-water. That was where all the water came from. Now I realised that I was supposed to add 1 tsp of cornflour to the 1/4 cup of chicken broth! Would the cornflour actually dissolve in the chicken broth? I guess I'll need to heat up the chicken broth first. Geez ~ HASSLE! Oh people don't die from eatting too much cornflour right? Hopefully not; I added more cornflour to make it less watery.

Well, it tasted okay but I think that's only because I put tons of hoisin sauce in it. I give this a 2/10.

20 Must--Dos before 40

You know people usually make a list of 100 must-dos. I'm less ambitious. I don't plan to live over 40 ~ HA! This list is not in accordance of priority.
  1. Travel to Europe. I'm thinking London and Paris. I don't mind backpacking as long as I'm not the one doing it.
  2. Start own business. Either a small restaurant/cafe or a tee shop.
  3. Own an item by Goyard. Anything but wallet.
  4. Attend a fashion show. Anywhere in the world.
  5. Go on detox for a week. Lots of water and vegie!
  6. Own an apartment. I don't care if it's on a 10 years+ mortgage or just make my parents sign over their apartment to me. I want my name on the paper!
  7. Take my parents to Japan. And leave them there.
  8. Learn to drive. Imagine my mom driving me to work ~ NOT COOL!
  9. Own a car. My friend just bought a new car - Renault. It's compact, stylish, about 5 feet tall with cute little wheels. That shows you how much I know about cars.
  10. Get married. Ummm...
  11. Earn my first million. Geez I think I might be aiming too high here. Let's make that Ringgit Malaysia. That's around AUD350,000.
  12. Master written Chinese. Well, I can't speak proper Mandarin either but I like to think that I can. It's all about self-belief, right?
  13. Improve serve. I know I have the perfect height to have a powerful serve in tennis. I just need practice serving more often.
  14. Start up an online business. Minus rent + minus expense for shop assistant/s = as my dad would put it; 'Big Money Coming'.
  15. Reduce body fat. My aim is to around 10% body fat.
  16. Invest in shares. This one should be easy. All I need is to give my brother money and he'll do the rest.
  17. Learn to enjoy good champagne. Moët & Chandon, that's what celebrities drink, yeah?
  18. Improve socialising skill.
  19. Go on Star Cruise. And be one of tsunami casualties.
  20. Own Prada suit.

Phew. It wasn't easy coming up with this list. I started the list on Friday and just finished it today, on Sunday!

Cooking with John

You know when it comes to business, people always say 'stick with what you know'. That's why I cooked my own dinner tonight. I know for a fact that to be a successful restaurateur, you need more than just a cute face and your parents money. Experience and knowledge are of utmost importance.

I borrowed my sister's Meals in Minute cookbook and decided to make Chicken Stir-fry with Bok Choy. This is how it's supposed to look like:

Photo from: Women's Weekly - Asian Meals in Minute.

I went to Safeway to get the ingredients, which were chicken breast, bok choy, red capsicum, soy sauce and seasoning.

It was quite simple to make. All I needed to do was to cut the stuff up first.

Then I just had to fry the chicken first, followed by the capsicum and garlic, and finally put the chicken back in together with the bok choy and soy sauce. Easy job!

It tasted okay. Note to self:

  1. Don't over cook the meat.
  2. Don't use too much oil.
  3. Check how to make sauce.

I am improving I think. At least this time the stir-fry actually had taste. I give myself a 7 out of 10... 6's for effort ~HA!

I cooked... what's new... everything!

Usually for someone who has never cook before, s/he starts by trying to cook an egg or something simple. However, I am not 'someone' so I cooked my sister and myself chicken stir-fry last night. Note to self -

  1. Cut the meat into smaller portions.
  2. Put vegie in earlier so you don't over cook the meat.
  3. You don't make sauce by pouring half a cup of water into wok. That'll only drown your poor little chicken.

Well, at least the rice was edible. I was going to take some photos of the stir-fry, but then I thought, why would I want to embarrass myself like that? I haven't given up though. Practice, practice, more practice.

I came across this article just now about money and happiness, and it was like reading inside my head! Money doesn't bring happiness but it can sure buy you some... if you have enough of it.

'If you don't have money to buy things, you're going to be very frustrated. It's just that simple.'

In other words, more monies = less frustrations = more happinesses. YAY! I sooo get it! I'm a living proof of this proposition. Last time, I was frustrated when I saw those cute undies by D&G at David Jones not because they didn't have my size or because they didn't suit my cute little bubble butt, it was because I couldn't afford them.

FAST FACTS:

1) What people do to get famous nowadays? Come out of the closet (i.e. Lance Bass from N'sync) or marry his boyfriend (i.e. Darren Hayes from Savage Garden and David from BB06).

2) Crazy inventions, crazy I tell you. Patches for fat reduction... what's next... send someone to the moon!!?
