Zouk Out

My plan for last Saturday was to go to the gym, play tennis, swim and clubbing at night. However, for some unexplainable reason, Chan and I ended up on a bus to Singapore on Saturday morning. Chan asked me if I would go to the 8pm-8am Zouk Out dance music festival held in Singapore with him and some other friends on Friday evening. The party was on Saturday night. After spending an entire week hanging out with my parents, reading (Devil Wears Prada) and doing what all fresh graduates do - slack around until all their savings get used up, it didn't take long or much effort before he could convince me to get my ass on a 5-hour coach ride overseas to party and shop.
We got on a bus at 11am and arrived around 4pm. Although the trip was totally unplanned, we were organised and knew exactly where we should be and at what time. Accomodation was no trouble since Chan's friend allowed us to crash at his room at Ritz Carlton Hotel - one of only three 6-star hotels in Singapore, according to the cab driver.
After arriving at the hotel and freshened up, we took at cab to Orchard Rd to have an early dinner at the very addictive Mos Burger.
Oh, did I mention that at this point, we hadn't bought the tickets for the party yet? And there were limited tickets left which we could only get from the party venue. After dinner, we rushed to the venue (a 20-minute cab ride only costed S$12 - cheap cheap) to get the tickets and headed straight back to the hotel afterwards to shower and change of clean clothes. We went back to Orchard Rd for yet another dinner, and then back to hotel again and only left for the party at 12:30am.

Zouk Out was held at the Siloso Beach, Sentosa. Many international djs and performances performed that night - Soulwax's Interversions Live, 2manydjs, Mambo Jambo etc... Dancing on sand and using portable toilets were all new to me. It was fun. We partied until 3am - long enough to have satisfying, adequate fun but not so long that would get us stuck in traffic jam. We had room service and went to bed at 5am.
We planned to leave Singapore at 3:30pm on Sunday so we had to wake up early to get as much done as possible. Went swimming at 10am, sunbathed and checked out at 12pm. Had lunch at Mos burger again, had a look at Club 21 and Blackjack but weren't able to find anything we like. Finally, I ended up buying a rollup-able messenger bag from Mulberry and Chan got some cds from HMV before heading to the bus station.

It was a fun and eventful weekend.

Ps. Two of my favourite japanese artists collaborated in this "Love Song" - M-flo with Bonnie Pink.
